Find out how much you can expect to pay to professionally caulk the gaps and cracks in your concrete.

Keeping cracks and gaps in the concrete around your property is essential. Not only does it make your concrete look better, but it helps prevent settling slabs, worsening cracks, and other damage.

But how much you should expect to spend on such an important aspect of concrete maintenance?

In this article, we’re breaking down how much professional concrete caulking costs and the factors that cause the final price to go up and down.

How Much Does Concrete Caulking Cost?

The average cost to caulk residential concrete at A-1 Concrete Leveling is around $5 to 10 per linear foot, but this is a ballpark number and the final price will depend on the factors listed below.

For example, this could break down to be $275 for 4 to 6 sidewalk joints or cracks, (up to 30 linear feet), or $1,000 for 10+ driveway joints or cracks (up to 100 linear feet) on the higher end of the spectrum.

Minimum Concrete Caulking Costs

Due to the regional variations throughout the country, it’s hard to nail down a specific minimum cost for professional concrete caulking.

However, a good rule of thumb is to expect to pay a few hundred dollars minimum for this service.

Pro Tip: Concrete caulking can be done in phases based on areas of concern to break up the cost over time.

What Influences Caulking Pricing?

Repair Volume

The repair volume consists of both the total linear footage and width of all the gaps and cracks.

The more cracks and gaps to be filled, or the wider the cracks and gaps, the more it will cost to caulk.

Bundled Services

If you also need additional concrete repair or maintenance services, like cleaning and sealing, getting them done at the same time as concrete caulking can lower the price.

Because caulking is such an important maintenance practice to prevent concrete leveling repairs from failing, it’s often done at the same time as most concrete leveling repairs.

Preparation

If the cracks and gaps require more preparation before caulking, the repair will likely be more expensive.

Cleaning excessive debris, removing old repairs, or grinding the crack open to make more room for the caulk are examples of prep work that could cause the final price to be higher.

Location

The cost of living in your area will also affect how much you can expect to pay for concrete caulking.

Fuel, labor, and material costs vary from region to region, which is a big reason that we cannot put a definitive price on caulking nationwide.

Material

A-1 usually uses polyurethane or hybrid polyurethane concrete caulks because they provide superior adhesion.

While polyurethane has historically been the industry standard, hybrid polyurethanes are growing in popularity for their improved moisture tolerance and greater UV stability.

Other caulking materials may cost less, but they typically don’t provide the same benefits.

Accessibility

How easy it is to access the repair site will also impact the final concrete caulking cost. The more difficult it is to get materials and tools to the concrete itself, the more the repair will cost.

DIY vs. Professional Concrete Caulking Cost

While professional residential concrete caulking could cost around $5 to $10 per linear foot, it could cost you between $5 to $12 to fix 1 or 2 cracks yourself with materials found at big box stores.

When To DIY

DIY concrete caulking is better when:

Budget is your main concern
You don’t mind spending time researching and learning how to caulk
You have the necessary tools handy (caulking gun, grinder, or other preparation tools)
There are only a few minor cracks or gaps to be repaired
